Project Homeless Connect October 7, 2010

Lincoln County’s 4th Annual Project Homeless Connect is in need of volunteers, says Lincoln Commission on Children and Families AmeriCorps VISTA  Lola Jones.
Project Homeless Connect, Thursday October 7 from ten o’clock to three o’clock, is a one stop shop that allows individuals and families to accomplish in one day what might normally take months in the social service system.
Approximately 200 people are expected to attend this year’s Project Homeless Connect, taking advantage of an expected 50 different agencies and organizations offering complimentary goods and services dealing with issues of housing, identification, food security, and health.
Volunteers are needed in a variety of capacities, including escorting homeless clients through the event to ensure their needs are met without overwhelming them. This human to human connection is an integral part of the experience, for both clients and volunteers. Other opportunities to volunteer include event set-up, registration, exit interviews, and meal service.
Those wishing to volunteer should contact Tamara Rosser at TRosser@ocwcog.org or visit homelessinlincolncounty.org and click on Volunteer Opportunities.
